Leadership Shifts WNC is a 9-month collaborative learning journey designed for people leading organizations and communities through today’s most complex challenges. This program is focused on the subtle, yet powerful, shifts in awareness, relationships, and practice that build more adaptive, distributed, and resilient leadership.

This program is specifically designed for those who find themselves bridging roles and sectors across Western North Carolina:

  • Civic Leaders and Institutional Staff
  • Philanthropic Staff and Nonprofit Directors

What You Will Explore and Gain

Participants will learn and immediately apply systems leadership principles to real-world contexts, supported by peer learning, reflection, and coaching from experts in systems thinking and resilience.

You will explore practices that help you:

  • Build resilience at personal, team, and organizational levels.
  • Recognize and work productively with cultural and power differences.
  • Design inclusive interactions that boost engagement.
  • Apply systems thinking to complex, cross-sector challenges.
  • Enable distributed, collaborative, and adaptive network leadership.

Upon completion, participants gain:

  • Practical tools for leading adaptively through uncertainty.
  • A supportive, committed peer network for continued learning.
  • Coaching and reflection to quickly integrate new practices into your daily work.
  • Renewed confidence in your ability to foster collaboration and trust.

Logistics & Enrollment

When: 10 AM – 4 PM on the last Friday of each month, from February – October 2026.

Format: Sessions may be virtual or in-person, with the format and location determined based on the cohort’s preferences.

Enrollment: To ensure depth and connection, each cohort is limited to 15 leaders and is by invitation only to ensure a vital mix of perspectives.

Tuition & Accessibility

Leadership Shifts WNC operates on a sliding-scale tuition model designed to balance accessibility and sustainability. We trust participants to select the rate that best aligns with their or their organization’s resources:
